While both Trusts practice values-based grant making and have identical Values Statements and funding focus, there are important differences between the two Trusts, each of which supports different organizations:

- The individual Co-trustee of the Elizabeth Morse Genius Charitable Trust is James L. Alexander, and the corporate Co-trustee is Bank of America, N.A.; and

Please note the following policies of both The Elizabeth Morse Charitable Trust and the Elizabeth Morse Genius Charitable Trust:
- Grant applicants are not permitted to submit proposals to both Trusts; grant applicants are permitted to submit proposals only to the Trust at which the grant applicant first made contact; a first time applicant must select one of the two Trusts to submit its first application;
- The Elizabeth Morse Charitable Trust does not accept proposals from grant applicants that have previously submitted a proposal to the Elizabeth Morse Genius Charitable Trust, and, similarly, the Elizabeth Morse Genius Charitable Trust does not accept proposals from grant applicants that have previously submitted a proposal to The Elizabeth Morse Charitable Trust; and
- The Trusts also do not accept joint applications to both Trusts, except upon specific invitation by both Trusts.
